Refund policy
Schmatz’s free tier is free; no payments are collected. This page is reserved for the refund terms that apply when paid Pro subscriptions are live.
Free tier
The Schmatz free tier — open to anyone via self-signup — is offered at no cost. We do not collect payment information from free-tier users and have nothing to refund.
Planned paid subscriptions (future)
When Schmatz introduces paid subscription tiers — currently targeted as a post-beta step — the following principles will apply, subject to specific terms that will be documented on this page before any charge is made:
- Clear pre-purchase disclosure: the price, billing cadence, and refund window will be shown in plain language before any payment is initiated.
- Time-bound refund window: we anticipate offering a refund window — typically the first 7 to 14 days of a new paid subscription — during which a full refund may be requested for any reason.
- Pro-rata cancellation: cancellation mid- cycle will, depending on the specific plan, stop future billing without refunding the remainder of the current billing period.
- No refunds for misuse: refunds may be denied where the account has been suspended for violation of the Terms of Service.
- Method of refund: refunds will be issued to the original payment method, processed through our payment processor (Stripe, when integrated).
Statutory rights
This policy is in addition to, and does not limit, any rights you may have under applicable law, including the Washington Consumer Protection Act (RCW 19.86) and any equivalent statute in your state of residence.
Changes to this policy
When this policy is materially revised — particularly when a paid subscription option launches — we will update the "Last updated" date and notify active subscribers by email in advance of any change to your billing arrangement.
